This project is weather permitting:
Motorists are advised to pay close attention and plan ahead for changes and delays the remainder of this month if they choose to drive in the I-235/I-44 Off Broadway interchange reconstruction project between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St.
The northbound I-235/US-77 dedicated exit ramp to N. 63rd St. shifted south Thursday afternoon. This temporary shift puts the exit significantly earlier in the interchange and is located just past the westbound and eastbound I-44 off-ramps. If northbound I-235/US-77 motorists miss the exit to N. 63rd St. the next available off-ramp will be Wilshire Blvd. Motorists are advised to plan ahead for delays and congestion in the area as traffic adjusts.
Significant lane shifts are scheduled to take place throughout the remainder of April and into early May to accommodate upcoming bridge reconstruction. Notice will be sent when the following lane shifts take place.
Upcoming changes include:
- Northbound I-235/US-77 lanes will significantly shift to the east between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St. within the next two weeks. Motorists are advised to expect delays and plan extra travel time as traffic adjusts after this upcoming shift.
- Motorists also should prepare for the southbound I-235/US-77 lanes to shift to the east soon after the northbound lanes move.
Motorists are reminded that the I-235/I-44 work zone will remain narrow and congested through completion in late fall 2021. Drivers still are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and use the Off Broadway alternate routes are I-35, SH-74/Lake Hefner Parkway, N. Lincoln Blvd., Martin Luther King Ave.
