Description

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA),is proposing improvements to State Highway (SH) SH-80 from 0.85 mile south of junction SH-80/SH-51, north 0.5 mile (on new alignment) in Cherokee County, Oklahoma. The existing segment of SH-80 has deteriorating pavement, no shoulders, and goes through the Town of Hulbert to connect to SH-51.The purpose of the proposed improvements is to correct roadway deficiencies, enhance safety, and efficiently accommodate traffic.

ODOT recently tasked a consultant to evaluate three alternatives for improving this segment of highway while taking into consideration the cost of construction, right-of-way and utilities, and potential environmental constraints. The alternatives being considered include new alignments west of and along S. Wilson. All proposed options would meet current standards. The highway would remain open during construction, and access to residences and businesses would be maintained.
