PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT MEETING for SH-66 in Oklahoma County, OK

Where When
Mount Pleasant Baptist Church
500 Odor Street
Arcadia, OK 73007

Date: March 8th, 2016

Time: 6:00 PM

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is proposing to improve SH 66 from approximately Division Street in the Town of Arcadia, through the Town of Arcadia, and continuing eastward to Luther, Oklahoma. The first segment of SH 66 through the Town of Arcadia with its historic resources and tourist attractions, is narrow, has poor pavement conditions, and lacks sufficient drainage. The second segment, just east of Arcadia to Luther, lacks shoulders, has poor pavement conditions and contains two severely skewed intersections with poor sight distance where SH 66 intersects with Hiwassee Road and Indian Meridian Road. The purpose of the projects are to improve the roadway’s safety for the travelling public while maintaining and protecting its historic nature and the heritage tourism benefits that Route 66 provides.
