Brad Thomas
Thomas has been with International Chemical Company (Inter-Chem) of Tulsa since 1985. Prior to Inter-Chem he served as Hewlett Packard’s national account manager for Phillips Petroleum Company. His career at Inter-Chem started as Operations Manager overseeing ocean vessel chartering, export shipping and collections, and USA barge and rail operations. His work progressed to international sourcing and sales, and he traveled extensively throughout the Former Soviet Union, North Africa, Europe, and Australia sourcing fertilizers for Inter-Chem’s North and South American distribution operations. He also directed the formation, growth, and sale of a large retail fertilizer business in Brazil during this period.
In 2006, Thomas was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Inter-Chem. In 2008, he led the company through a transition to 100% employee-ownership, and the company remains 100% employee-owned today. In addition to its legacy business of fertilizer distribution, Inter-Chem is a leading distributor of elemental sulphur in the USA. Inter-Chem, through its participation in Heartland Sulphur Limited, Canada has built and operates three sulphur processing units in Canada and maintains a substantial fleet of molten sulphur rail cars to serve its North American clients. Since 2008, Inter-Chem has been involved in the wholesale fuels trade and serves clients with its investments in fuel storage and rail tank car assets. The company also provides a full spectrum of steel processing services to regional manufacturers and fabricators through its wholly owned subsidiary Ozark Steel Company of Tulsa.
Brad has been married to Brenda for 43 years. They are parents of two daughters and now enjoy five grandchildren. He earned a BS in Computer Science and an MBA from Oral Roberts University and holds a certificate in ocean chartering from the Association of Ship Brokers and Agents. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Oral Roberts University, serves on the board of Tulsa’s SpiritLife Church, and is chairman of India Practical Missions. He also serves as chairman of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation Waterways Advisory Board and is a director of the ORU Golden Eagle Club.
