Detours planned for some Tulsa International Airport traffic

The eastbound I-244/US-412 ramp to westbound SH-11 (mm 12B) will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. Monday as part of a bridge rehabilitation project. The project will reconstruct both bridges that carry the ramp over westbound I-244 and over the eastbound SH-11 ramp to eastbound I-244.

Beginning Monday, eastbound I-244 motorists bound for SH-11/Tulsa International Airport will be detoured to the Mingo Rd. off-ramp (mm 13A) and can re-enter westbound I-244 to access SH-11. Advanced notice for airport traffic will also be provided on the Inner Dispersal Loop near Downtown Tulsa directing motorists to detour on northbound US-75 to eastbound SH-11.

Various lane closures, including full closures of westbound I-244, are planned throughout the project. Initial planned closures include:

  • The left lane of eastbound I-244 and the right lane of westbound I-244 will be closed between Memorial Dr. and Mingo Rd. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, for barrier wall placement.
  • The left lane of westbound I-244 will be closed between Mingo Rd. and Memorial Dr. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, for barrier wall placement.
  • Westbound I-244 will be narrowed to one lane between Mingo Rd. and Memorial Dr. from 9 p.m. Friday, March 8, to 5 a.m. March 9 for bridge deck removal.
  • Westbound I-244 will be closed at SH-11 from 9 p.m. March 9 through 5 a.m. March 10 for beam removal. Traffic will be detoured to westbound SH-11 and southbound US-75.

Other closures and necessary detours will be announced as the project proceeds.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded the contract for this $5.4 million project to Becco Contractors, Inc. in November 2023. The overall project is expected to be complete in late 2024.
