Update on SH-20 pavement project in Claremore

Thursday, January 13, 2022

Work resumed in early December 2021 on a $4.6 million project to replace the pavement on SH-20 between the SH-66 junction and I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike in Claremore. This project began in early July 2021, but had to be stopped due to unexpected conflicts with utility lines. While it is normal for various utility lines to be placed in the highway rights-of-way, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation erred on the side of caution and temporarily halted work while utility providers performed line location surveys and necessary line relocations.

Traffic remains narrowed to one lane in each direction on east and westbound SH-20 in this corridor while the project is underway. Drivers can expect delays through the work zone or consider an alternate route to avoid the work zone.

The overall project is expected to complete in spring 2022, weather permitting. The contract for this work was awarded to C3 Construction of Ada.
