SH-33 narrows at Harmony Rd. in Cushing for pavement project

Friday, January 28, 2022

This project is weather permitting:

Eastbound and westbound SH-33 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction at Harmony Rd. in Cushing starting at 8 a.m. Monday through summer 2022 for an ongoing pavement reconstruction and intersection modification project. Additionally, eastbound and westbound SH-33 will remain narrowed to one lane in each direction at the intersections of SH-18/Little Ave. and Linwood Ave.

North/south turning movements to SH-18/Little Ave. and Linwood Ave. will be closed, requiring detours through spring 2022. The SH-33 intersection at Harmony Rd. is open for north/south traffic at this time, but motorists can expect closures at this intersection later in the project.

SH-18 traffic must detour to Grandstaff Rd. to Linwood Ave. to Pine St. to Mailten Dr. to access SH-33. Those traveling westbound and eastbound SH-33 also may take this same route starting at Mailten Dr. to go north on SH-18 through spring 2022.

The SH-33 and Linwood Ave. intersection also will be closed to northbound and southbound traffic with a detour slated for SH-33 to Euchee Valley Rd. to Texaco Rd. to Linwood Ave. through spring 2022.

After both intersections are reconstructed, SH-33 pavement will be reconstructed between SH-18 and Linwood Ave. through spring 2023.

Motorists are advised to plan extra travel time through this area and to expect lane shifts, delays and congestion. The contractor will work directly with businesses as driveways are impacted by construction, however, at least one drive will remain open for access to these areas.

The nearly $19 million project was awarded in September 2021 to Allen Contracting Co. of Oklahoma City.

SH-33 will be detoured at SH-18/Little Ave., Linwood Ave. and Harmony Rd. at varying times during construction.
