Virtual public meeting now open for input on US-70 rehabilitation between Lone Grove and Ardmore

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual open house to present proposed improvements for nearly four miles of US-70 between Lone Grove and Ardmore in Carter County. The purpose of the open house is to present improvements which include reconstruction of the four lane highway to provide 12 foot wide driving lanes, a 4 foot wide inside shoulder and a 10 foot wide outside shoulder. Additional improvements include wider median openings with extended left turn bays at various locations, sight distance corrections, highway lighting and traffic signalization.

Construction phasing and specific details of proposed improvements can be found in the virtual meeting presentation. Acquisition of additional right-of-way will begin in late 2024 with utility relocation taking place in 2026. Construction is tentatively scheduled in the department's Eight-Year Construction Work Plan to begin in 2029 at an estimated cost of nearly $40 million.
