The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will host the second round of in-person, open house public meetings to discuss the next phase of the U.S. 412 Planning and Environmental Linkages Study. ODOT is working jointly with the Arkansas Department of Transportation on the U.S. 412 PEL Study in preparation for the U.S. 412 corridor to be upgraded to an interstate. A PEL Study is a formal process that allows data collected at the planning stage to be utilized during the next phase of environmental review, expediting progress. The U.S. 412 PEL Study area extends approximately 190 miles from I-35 in Oklahoma to I-49 in Arkansas. At this meeting, attendees will be able to review how transportation solutions are being evaluated for potential implementation on U.S. 412.

The PEL Study is focused on:

  • Addressing Congressionally mandated legislation to convert U.S. 412 to an Interstate.
  • Improving safety for all travelers on U.S. 412.
  • Enhancing mobility and improving system and travel time reliability.
  • Enhancing system linkage by connecting rural and urban communities, national airports and inland ports, and freight supply chains.

Why a Public Meeting: ODOT and the study team are seeking your input on the next phase of the PEL Study. Learn about the potential U.S. 412 transportation solutions, how the study team is evaluating the potential solutions, ask questions, and submit feedback.

When/Where: The study team is offering two opportunities to attend one of the in-person public meetings. The meetings are open forum with no formal presentations. Visit anytime during the scheduled hours. The material will be the same for both meetings.
