Meeting set for Aug. 1 for public input on I-35 improvement project

Wednesday, July 26, 2023

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is seeking public input on options to improve I-35 between Memorial Rd. and N.E. 122nd St. The meeting will provide the public information about potential improvements to the area and the potential impacts to drivers and the surrounding community.

The purpose of this project is to increase the safety and operation along I-35 including at the I-35/I-44/Turner Turnpike interchange.

Potential improvements include:

  • Adding an additional southbound I-35 lane from Memorial Dr. to Hefner Rd.
  • Adding dedicated lanes for traffic entering and exiting I-35
  • Installing a concrete barrier to prevent westbound I-44/Turner Turnpike traffic from exiting at N.E. 122nd St.  I-44/Turner Turnpike traffic wanting to access N.E. 122nd Street would exit onto I-35 and take Sooner Rd. south to N.E. 122nd St.
