June Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, June 5

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s mon­thly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream video online.

Items to be addressed at the meeting:

  • Secretary of Transportation and Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will discuss Senate Bill 762 which posthumously dedicates the I-35/SH-51 interchange in Payne County to former Secretary of Transportation Gary Ridley.
  • Secretary Gatz will present the agency’s 2022 Safety Awards to recognize the ODOT districts and crews with the best worker safety records in the past year.
  • The commission will hear an update on major Oklahoma City metro projects including the progress at I-40 and Douglas Blvd. and upcoming work on the I-35/I-240 interchange.
  • The commission is expected to vote on whether to award several contracts, among them an estimated $5 million resurfacing with shoulders project on US-64 near Webbers Falls and an estimated $33 million 5-lane repaving of US-54 through Guymon.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
