July Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, July 10

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s mon­thly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 10, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream video online.

Items to be addressed at the meeting:

  • Secretary of Transportation and Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will update commissioners on the department’s response to the June 17 severe weather in Tulsa and surrounding counties.
  • Secretary Gatz will report on the recent overnight closures in Oklahoma City on I-35 at I-44 to hang beams for an interchange reconstruction project and upcoming work on I-40 near Morgan Rd., also in Oklahoma City.
  • The commission is expected to vote on whether to award several contracts, among them an estimated $20 million project that will complete four lanes from Poteau to I-40 in LeFlore County and an estimated $3 million bridge project on I-44 in Lawton, Comanche County.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
