Public input needed on US-70 realignment in Madill

Friday, April 29, 2022

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is conducting a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed project and the environmental study performed for realignment on US-70 in and around Madill. The project will improve safety, efficiency and travel time through the corridor.

The project consists of a realignment of US-70 half a mile west of US-177 at Mockingbird Lane extending east about 1 mile, crossing US-177 and BNSF railroad, then continuing southwest on a new alignment to SH-199 then south for 3 miles back to US-70 near Archard Rd.

The purpose of the hearing is to solicit comments about the environmental study results and realignment of US-70. The environmental document can be viewed online at www.ODOT.org/US70Realignment and copies are available at ODOT Headquarters in Oklahoma City, District 2 Field Office in Antlers and the Madill Post Office.

The first hour of the meeting will be an open house format with exhibits. A brief presentation will be made at 6 p.m. followed by an opportunity for public comment. Citizens should be signed up to speak by 6:15 p.m. and will have a maximum of three minutes to talk. The open house format will continue until 7:30 p.m. Forms will be provided and a court reporter will be on hand.
