August Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, Aug. 1

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media may attend or watch the livestream video online.

 Items to be addressed at the meeting:

  • Secretary of Transportation and Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will update the commission on Oklahoma Transportation’s progress on structurally deficient bridges and its recent change in national rank.
  • District 7, headquartered in Duncan in Southwestern Oklahoma, will be presented the Work Zone Safe Teen Education Award for helping educate teen drivers on the need for safety in work zones.
  • The commission will be asked to vote on whether to award several contracts, among them a bridge reconstruction on I-35 over N. 63rd in Oklahoma City, concrete pavement rehabilitation on SH-51 in Tulsa County, asphalt resurfacing on SH-66 in Sapulpa in Creek County and highway improvements on US-259 in McCurtain County.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
