US-77/Broadway and US-77/SH-66/Second St. Resurfacing in Edmond

ABOUT THE PROJECT

  • US-77/Broadway between Comfort Dr. and Second St. and US-77/SH-66/Second St. between Broadway and Sooner Rd. in Edmond will be resurfaced to extend the life of the pavement and upgrade driving conditions.

  • Work is expected to begin in early April and completion is anticipated by fall 2023, weather permitting.

  • A nearly $9 million contract was awarded by the Oklahoma Transportation Commission in December 2022 to Haskell Lemon Construction Co.

  • US-77/Broadway traffic is estimated at 56,700 vehicles on average per day as it enters Edmond and nearly 30,000 vehicles per day on US-77/SH-66/Second St. near Broadway.

IMPACTS TO TRAFFIC

  • Most lane closures will take place between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly to lessen the impact to motorists and businesses along the corridors.

  • Motorists can expect lane closures and short-term impacts to driveways along the business route. Additionally, intermittent median closures will occur along US-77/Broadway when paving operations begin in May.

  • Early in the project, motorists can expect southbound US-77/Broadway to be narrowed to one lane between 15th St. and South Ave. for about a week for significant pavement repairs. This will be a round-the-clock closure with limited driveway access during this time. At least one driveway access to businesses will remain open. Motorists may access Starbucks and other businesses from the north driveway off 15th St. in addition to at least one other driveway during this closure. Motorists may acces Sumo Steakhouse and Sushi Bar from the connecting Home Depot driveway.

  • Paving operations are expected to begin in May along US-77/Broadway and US-77/SH-66/Second St., weather permitting.

  • Motorists also can expect rough pavement on US-77/SH-66/Second St. between Coltrane Rd. and Sooner Rd. later in the project, which ultimately will be smoothed through a diamond-grinding process.
