Tim Tegeler, of Norman, was named Director of Engineering for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in September 2013. Tegeler was Division Engineer for the Roadway Design Division from 2005 until his promotion.

Tegeler joined ODOT in 1985 as an Engineer-In-Training and became an Engineering Manager in 1992. In 1997, he moved up to Assistant Division Engineer of the Roadway Design Division and held that post until his promotion to Division Engineer in 2005. Since his early days with the department, Tegeler has been very involved in design work on some of Tulsa’s major highway projects, including the I-44 corridor and the Broken Arrow Expressway.

In his current position as Director of Engineering, Tegeler is responsible for engineering and transportation planning activities in several divisions, including Bridge; Environmental Programs; Legal and Business Services; Right-of-Way and Utilities; Roadway Design; Survey; and Traffic Engineering.

Tegeler holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University and became a Professional Engineer in 1990. He is a member of several task forces and committees on asphalt, concrete and design manuals and has been a member of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Subcommittee on Design since 2006. He is also active in the Wildwood Community Church. He and his wife, Susana, have two children, Olivia Marie and Hannah Lynn.
