Distracted driving continues to be one of the leading causes of preventable crashes on Oklahoma roadways, putting motorists, law enforcement, first responders, highway workers and anyone on the highway at risk.
To encourage drivers to put distractions away and stay focused behind the wheel, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety are partnering to raise awareness about the consequences of distracted driving and the simple actions drivers can take to help save lives.
During the Oklahoma Transportation Commission meeting on Monday, ODOT Chief Engineer TJ Dill will brief commissioners on the growing dangers of distracted driving.
Following the 11 a.m. meeting, media will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in a question-and-answer session with Dill and DPS representatives and get a closer look at highway safety equipment on display.
- Visit an active work zone to capture B-roll and speak with highway workers.
