March Transportation Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, March 2

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, March 2 in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream.

Items to be addressed at the meeting:

  • Secretary of Transportation and Oklahoma Department of Transportation Executive Director Tim Gatz will brief commissioners on the upcoming national Mother Road Summit in Oklahoma City and other Route 66 celebrations.
  • Commissioners will consider approval of engineering contracts to widen I-35 between I-40 and I-44 and another to rehabilitate pavement on I-44 between SH-74 and I-235, including the Belle Isle bridge, both in Oklahoma City.
  • Gatz will discuss the impacts of recent wildfires.
  • Commissioners will receive an update on the progress of the US-70 Roosevelt bridge replacement project.
  • The commission will vote on whether to award several contracts, among them a more than $35 million project to widen US-59 between Jay and Grove near Grand Lake.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
