The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3 in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to attend or watch the livestream.
Items to be addressed at the meeting:
- Transportation Chief Engineer T.J. Dill will update commissioners on the department’s participation in the national “Check Your Height, Know It’s Right” campaign which aims to prevent bridge strikes.
- Dill will brief Commissioners on the department’s efforts to curb the distracted driving epidemic as a result of multiple work zone crashes and close calls. After the Commission Meeting, Dill and Department of Public Safety representatives will offer media availability to discuss the dangers of distracted driving.
- The commission will vote on whether to award several contracts, among them an eight-mile long pavement rehabilitation on US-69 near Pryor as well as I-35 widening and bridgework near Goldsby.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
