All aboard the Big Game Train for the Red River Rivalry
Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer is ready to roll south to Dallas, giving football fans a convenient way to travel for the annual Red River Rivalry between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas.
Amtrak and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation are once again offering fans the opportunity to skip the stress of highway traffic and parking and enjoy the trip alongside fellow football fans.
This year’s Big Game Train will feature Amtrak’s Sightseer Lounge, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views along the route between Oklahoma and Texas. Fans can relax, socialize and show their school spirit as they make their way to one of college football’s biggest rivalries.
The Big Game Train leaves the Santa Fe Depot in Oklahoma City at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 and arrives at 2 p.m. at Union Station in downtown Dallas. Fans can join the train at any of the stops in Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley, Ardmore, Gainesville, Texas and Fort Worth.
Fans looking for a full day of fun can take the Flyer on Saturday, Oct. 10 and arrive at Fort Worth at 12:27 p.m. ahead of the 2:30 p.m. Red River Rivalry kickoff.
The Heartland Flyer returns Sunday, Oct. 11. The train leaves Dallas’ Union Station at 3:15 p.m. and arrives in Oklahoma City at 9:27 p.m.
