ODOT seeks feedback on State Rail Plan

Tuesday, December 02, 2025

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation requests public input as it launches an update to its State Rail Plan which addresses existing and future passenger and freight rail services in Oklahoma. The plan reflects the latest rail project priorities and helps position Oklahoma stakeholders for federal funding.

Last updated in 2021, the State Rail Plan enables ODOT to:

  • Take inventory and review usage of all rail lines
  • Analyze rail service goals and rail’s contribution
  • Catalog and assess potential infrastructure projects
  • Examine financing challenges for projects and services
  • Review rail safety improvement projects

ODOT will present Rail Plan updates during a virtual public information meeting at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 9. Anyone interested in watching can register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/5U3fi0IrSxGAImtnlQpPvw

The materials presented during the meeting, as well as an online survey, will be available following the meeting on ODOT’s Rail Plan website: https://oklahoma.gov/odot/programs-and-projects/programs/multimodal/office-of-mobility-and-public-transit/passenger-rail/oklahoma-state-rail-plan.html.

Survey responses are also due by 5 p.m., Jan. 31. Public feedback will help shape the 2026 Rail Plan. Another public meeting will be held after the draft Rail Plan is released.
