The Oklahoma Transportation Commission’s monthly meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building, 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. Members of the public and media are invited to watch the livestream video online.
Items to be addressed at the meeting:
- The commission will consider approval of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Eight-Year Construction Work Plan for Federal Fiscal Years 2023-2030. The annually updated plan contains $8.4 billion in highway improvements statewide for the next eight years. They will also be presented with the department’s Asset Preservation Plan.
- Secretary of Transportation and ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz will discuss the recent closure of I-35 in Oklahoma City for an ongoing resurfacing project and if the I-35 south corridor will be affected during the upcoming OU vs. Texas weekend.
- The commission will be asked to vote on whether to award several contracts, among them a more than $170 million interchange reconstruction at I-40 and Douglas Blvd. in Oklahoma City, installation of wrong way detection systems on I-35 between Oklahoma County and Kansas, a pavement rehabilitation project on US-62 over SH-165 near the Muskogee Turnpike and a diverging diamond interchange reconstruction project at US-169 and the Creek Turnpike in Tulsa.

The commission, a nine-member panel appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee the state’s transportation development, awards project contracts for road and bridge construction on a monthly basis.
