Ron Brown was named Division Engineer for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s Division Three, based in Ada, in May 2020. Brown will manage the construction and maintenance of interstates and highways as well as other transportation-related projects in 11 counties in south-central Oklahoma.
Most recently, Brown served as Division Three construction engineer for the same region, which includes significant sections of I-35 and I-40 as well as many urban and rural state highways, beginning this role in 2001. Prior to this, he worked as the resident engineer in Ada and in several engineering roles at the Edmond Residency. He began his career with the department in 1990.
Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1990. He went on to earn his Professional Engineer’s license in 1997.
Brown has been involved with every Division Three portion of the ODOT’s Eight-Year Construction Work Plan since its inception in 2003. In his time with ODOT, he has overseen more than $2 billion in projects, including the reconstruction of the Purcell-Lexington bridge, the widening of the I-35 corridor to six lanes in Norman and the replacement of more than 160 structurally deficient bridges.
Brown lives with his wife, Zoe, in Ada and has six children. He serves as a deacon at his church.
