Virtual public meeting underway for proposed US-62/SH-82 improvements in Cherokee County
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is hosting a virtual public meeting to provide updates on a proposed improvement project at the US-62/SH-82 intersection in Tahlequah in Cherokee County.
This area currently has a traffic signal along with growing congestion and delays. ODOT is proposing a three-legged roundabout for this intersection to help improve safety and traffic flow for both corridors. Westbound US-62 traffic would have an option to proceed without entering the roundabout, but all other traffic would be directed to follow the roundabout. The project will also include a mile-long overlay on US-62 north of this junction.
The public can visit www.odot.org/US62-SH82 to view the roundabout proposal and provide comments through July 31. Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19, this presentation will be a web-based public viewing format with no in-person meetings scheduled.
