The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is hosting an open house meeting June 1 in Briggs to present information and gather public input on a proposed project to improve US-62/SH-51 east of Tahlequah in Cherokee County.
This section of US-62/SH-51 just east of SH-10 has narrow lanes with no shoulders, steep side slopes, substandard intersections and a deteriorated box bridge at the East Branch of Briggs Creek. To improve the highway, ODOT is evaluating alternatives and will use input from the public to design a future construction project, which is currently scheduled to go to bid in Federal Fiscal Year 2018.
While no formal presentation is scheduled, members of the public can come anytime during this open house meeting to view plans of the proposed improvements, speak with engineers and planners and give input on the proposed project. All project materials will also be made available online following the meeting at www.odot.org/publicmeetings.
