Oklahoma’s 2017 State Rail Plan taking shape online
Sharing your ideas on the future for freight and passenger rail in Oklahoma is now easier than ever. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is putting together the 2017 State Rail Plan, and has launched an interactive online public meeting to provide information and gather input.
The online meeting can be found at OK2017RailPlan.com through August 18. This planning document is updated every four years to serve as a guideline for needs and future project goals. The interactive view online allows users to navigate through different aspects of the plan, give comments or ask questions on areas like freight and passenger rail development and also view some proposed projects.
Once comments are gathered, the final version of the 2017 State Rail Plan will be drafted. It’s hoped that the online presentation will help increase interest in rail planning and provide valuable information to help guide the draft development. Once finalized, the plan will help guide the department’s decisions to make improvements to rail systems across the state.
