OKLAHOMA CITY (January 14, 2025) — Gov. Kevin Stitt has appointed Timothy Michaels-Johnson, J.D., to the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth. Michaels-Johnson will represent the Oklahoma Bar Association on the commission, succeeding Bradley J. Wilson of Ardmore.

Michaels-Johnson has spent his career focused on child welfare law. After earning his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2011, he worked for nearly five years in the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting cases involving deprived children.

In 2016, Michaels-Johnson joined Tulsa Lawyers for Children, where he represented children in foster care and trained volunteer attorneys. He later served as the organization’s executive director until April 2024.

“I am honored to be appointed and excited to collaborate with the commission to improve the lives of Oklahoma’s children and families,” Michaels-Johnson said.

Michaels-Johnson currently serves as the Region 5 managing attorney for child representation with the Oklahoma Office of Family Representation, where he is helping develop and implement the state’s new centralized office for parent and child legal representation. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa College of Law, where he teaches juvenile law.

“We appreciate Timothy Michaels-Johnson’s commitment to serving as a commissioner,” said Annette Wisk Jacobi, OCCY’s executive director. “His dedication to Oklahoma’s children and families reflects the values and mission of our work, and we look forward to working with him.”
