OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Danielle Sasser and Crystalle Fry, both from Oklahoma City University School of Law, have been selected to take part in a legal externship at the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth (OCCY).
“OCCY’s externship is a great opportunity for law students to explore and learn about opportunities within their future career field,” said Annette Jacobi, OCCY’s executive director. “We are excited to find out what they have learned about state government and the agencies that serve Oklahomans.”
Meet the Externs:
Danielle Sasser is in her third and last year at the Oklahoma City University School of Law. She is a first generation college graduate and law student. She notes that so far her, “…favorite part of law school is being an academic fellow for Contract Law.” After finishing law school, Sasser’s goal is to advocate for victims and will utilize what she has learned from her externship to guide her in that direction.
Crystalle Fry is in her final year of law school at Oklahoma City University School of Law and a native of Dallas, Texas, where she served as an English/French translator for pro-bono teams working on asylum cases. As an undergraduate, Crystalle studied abroad for a semester in Tokyo, Japan and became especially passionate about child advocacy and pursuing a career involving human rights. Crystalle is furthering her knowledge of family law in hopes to better assist families and children by externing at OCCY.
Over the course of the externship, Sasser and Fry will shadow various OCCY staff members and will learn more about OCCY as an organization, its mission and goals, as well as the staff’s daily duties. They will also participate in meetings and presentations at the state capitol as well as discussions with leaders and professionals from various state organizations.
