Dr. Fontes will present and discuss various ways the dynamics manifest, including direct physical, sexual, and emotional abuse of children, economic abuse, “procedural abuse” involving the courts and/or child protection systems, and obligating the spousal victim to harm the children. Participants will learn how intimate partner violence disempowers victimized mothers and how to improve their ability to intervene in coercive control in child abuse.
