Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)

The Sexual Health and Harm Reduction service works to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted and other infections through prevention and intervention programs, data surveillance and analysis and connecting those who may have been infected to appropriate care.

The service employs nurses, analysts, investigators, experts in public heath and disease prevention, communications specialists, policy experts, and others who work together to protect Oklahomans from the effects of disease.

Prevention and treatment of infection is more than simply a personal health issue, it is a public health issue. The infections the service tracks can have serious and long-lasting effects and can be more than simply an inconvenience. They can be potentially deadly.

The pages on this site will offer information about the infections SHHR combats and provides information on ways to protect yourself from infection, get testing, treat infection, connect with providers who can provide care, and educate others on STIs and hepatitis.

We also provide training to community members and health workers to ensure that people throughout the state have access to accurate and timely information.
