Quality Improvement and Evaluation Service (QIES) Help Desk
QIES is responsible for coordinating activities and database functions that fall under the umbrella of the national QualityNet System developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Data collected from nursing homes, skilled nursing units, home health agencies, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, and hospitals with swing beds are used by healthcare professionals to assist in the development of individual patient care plans and as a resource for quality improvement efforts within the healthcare setting. Nationally, the data help researchers who are studying trends in health care and provides a basis for decision-making in the development of future health care programs. The data, as a mechanism for acuity-based reimbursement systems, are found in both the Medicare and Medicaid programs throughout the United States.
The QIES Help Desk is available to anyone who needs assistance with the MDS/OASIS process. Individuals that staff the QIES and the MDS/OASIS Help Desk are ready to provide users with prompt, knowledgeable, professional and courteous support services. We are available to answer questions or concerns about the technical or clinical areas of the MDS/OASIS instrument or reports generated by the MDS/OASIS system and will work with users to identify other appropriate resources if needed.
