Health Care Providers
Concussions are serious injuries. Timely recognition and appropriate response is important in treating a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) or concussion and preventing further injury. Children with concussion symptoms may enter the health care system in various ways (e.g., emergency department, primary care, urgent care) and interact with a number of providers. Utilizing best practices for evaluation, diagnosis, management/treatment, and return to activities, health care providers are critical to achieving optimal recovery, minimizing adverse health outcomes, and providing vital education to families/caregivers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collaborated with multiple organizations to create practical, easy-to-use clinical information and tools for health care providers and their patients, including free online training that offers free continuing education credits.
