Open Records Request

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) Open Records Division processes requests for specific records using the Open Records Request Form. Click here to access the Open Records Request Form. All requested records are provided digitally at no cost.

Please follow the instructions below to ensure your request is processed efficiently and in accordance with state law.

Provide as much detail as possible to help locate the requested records:

  • Date & Time of Incident
  • County & Exact Location
  • Names of Individual(s) Involved
  • Trooper’s Name, Badge Number, and Troop
  • Collision Report or Citation Number

Select the records you are requesting:

  • Arrest Report (Report of Investigation)
  • CAD Report (911 Dispatch Log/Incident Detail Report) 
  • Vehicle Examination Report 

Important Notes

  • Accident/Collision Reports must be requested through Service Oklahoma’s Collision Request for Records or by calling (405) 522-7000. ALL driver’s license information, including Motor Vehicle Records, Notices of Revocation, driving history, etc. must be requested from Service Oklahoma.
  • Police Reports issued by other law enforcement agencies are not processed by DPS Open Records. For police reports issued by other agencies, it is advised to contact the respective police department of the responding officer. 
  • The following records require a subpoena:  
    • Photographs 
    • Witness Statements 
    • Third-party Video 
    • EDR/ACM Downloads 
    • Diagrams 
    • Other investigative documents beyond arrest reports or CAD reports

When your request is ready, you will be notified by email only. Questions regarding requests can be sent to DPSOpenRecords@dps.ok.gov. Due to the large number of requests received and worked daily, we are unable to provide estimated dates of completion.

Requests are processed in the order they are received and can take up to 90 days or more to process. We strive to process requests as efficiently as possible; however, please be aware that some may require additional time for thorough research. Click here to initiate your Open Records request.

Please note all documents are redacted to comply with the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. Sections 2721- 2725 and the Oklahoma Open Records Act, 51 O.S. Section 24A.1 et seq.
