Secondary 5th-12th Grade
This pathway is best for career changers with a non-education bachelors degree and want to teach in:
- Secondary education subject areas 5th-12th grade
- Math, Science, History, and English
- Single subject areas PK-12th grade in the areas of:
- Art, Dance, English as a Second Language, Foreign Languages, Music, Physical Education/Health/Safety, and Speech/Drama/Debate
Alternative Placement Program
This pathway offers an opportunity for individuals with non-teaching degrees to obtain the certification needed to teach in accredited Oklahoma public schools. To be eligible, applicants must have one of the following:
- Baccalaureate degree with a retention GPA of 2.5 or higher from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE). NOTE: A master’s degree is required for a School Counselor, Reading Specialist, and Library-Media Specialist.
- Baccalaureate degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by OSRHE, plus 2 years of qualified work experience in a field corresponding to the area(s) of certification you intend to seek.
- Terminal Degree in any field from an institution accredited by a national or regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
