Lane closures to begin Monday on Muskogee Turnpike for shoulder rehabilitation project

Thursday, May 28, 2026

A shoulder rehabilitation project will begin on Monday, June 1, on the SH-351/Muskogee Turnpike between SH-165/Peak Blvd. (mm 37) in Muskogee and I-40 (mm 56). The project is expected to continue through the end of 2026.

Southbound SH-351/Muskogee Turnpike will be narrowed to one lane between SH-165/Peak Blvd. (mm 37) and 4 miles south of SH-165 at Davis Field Rd. (mm 41) Monday morning through June.

This project will have several phases of construction, and the traffic configuration will shift throughout. Following completion of the southbound work, the northbound rehabilitation project will begin between just south of SH-165 (mm 41) and SH-165/Peak Blvd. (mm 37) and will be narrowed to one lane for the next phase of the project. Notice will be sent prior to new lane closures occurring.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and expect shifts in traffic configuration throughout the project.

The $6.9 million shoulder rehabilitation project includes milling and overlaying the existing asphalt shoulder and reconstructing the guardrail between Muskogee and I-40 (mm 37 and 56). The project was awarded by the OTA Board in December to APAC Central Inc.
