Northbound SH-36 to I-44/H.E. Bailey Turnpike Ramp Closure at SH-36 near Geronimo begins Monday

Friday, June 19, 2026

The northbound SH-36 ramp to I-44/H.E. Bailey Turnpike near Geronimo will be closed starting Monday, June 22nd, until Friday, June 26th, for pavement reconstruction. SH-36 southbound on- and off-ramps will also be narrowed to one lane for this project. This project is part of a larger overall project to improve pavement from I-44/H.E. Bailey and US-70 (mm 5) near Randlett to I-44/H.E. Bailey and US-277 (mm 20) near Walters.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and expect shifts in traffic configuration throughout the project.

The $11.5 million asphalt pavement project was awarded by the OTA Board in December to Interstate Improvements Inc. This capital plan project to extend the life of the pavement is estimated to be completed by late August 2026.
