OTA seeks virtual public input on new Toby Keith Expressway turnpike interchange at I-40 in Newalla

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority is seeking public input online for the future interchange of the Toby Keith Expressway (formerly East-West Connector) turnpike at I-40 in Newalla. Those in the surrounding areas such as Oklahoma and Cleveland counties who travel I-40 and the I-335/Kickapoo Turnpike regularly are also asked to provide input.

The online comment period will be open from July 21 to Aug. 21.

This will be one of three interstate interchanges constructed for the 28-mile-long new turnpike that ultimately will provide a new east-west corridor connecting I-44 to I-40 and the I-335/Kickapoo Turnpike as part of the Oklahoma City Outer Loop. The public is asked to provide input on the new infrastructure to be added at the I-40 interchange and give their thoughts on traffic flow such as new ramp configurations and frontage road changes, as examples. Feedback on how the interchange and the local infrastructure improvements will impact motorists is also sought.

This project will establish the connection between the Toby Keith Expressway and the southern end of the Kickapoo Turnpike through a new multi-level interchange, creating an important new link within Oklahoma’s transportation network. Once complete, this segment will improve regional connectivity, provide additional travel options for motorists, and support continued in eastern Oklahoma County.
