I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike outside lanes closed at US-60 in Vinita through Monday for bridge repairs

Sunday, July 12, 2026

Eastbound and westbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike remains narrowed to one lane in each direction at US-60 (mm 289) in Vinita due to a bridge strike Saturday by an illegally over height commercial motor vehicle. US-60 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals to direct traffic underneath the turnpike while crews are on site making repairs to both bridges above it.

After an inspection of the bridges was completed Saturday, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority declared an emergency so that repairs could begin immediately. Crews are repairing seven bridge beams.

It is illegal for trucks taller than 14 feet to travel the state highway and turnpike system without permits and approved routes. The bridge damaged Saturday has 15 feet and 4 inches in vertical clearance, well above the legal limit.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, especially during the Monday morning commute, and to use caution while crews are in the area.
