New I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike interchange at Flint Rd. to open Thursday morning near Claremore

Wednesday, March 12, 2025

A new I-44/Will Rogers interchange will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at mm 252 at Flint Road/E. 510 Road near Claremore, weather permitting. This interchange is part of a larger $64 million project in conjunction with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, which also is realigning and reconstructing SH-20.

OTA’s interchange on the Will Rogers Turnpike provides a direct connection to this new state highway alignment, which is expected to open a little later this spring. For now, Will Rogers motorists will be able to exit Flint Road to the west to access SH-66 or to travel east to E. 510 County Road. SH-20 to the west remains closed until later this spring. Motorists coming from Tulsa and Claremore in a 2-axle vehicle will pay a 66-cent toll at the Flint Rd. exit. Once the interchange opens Thursday morning, the new interchange will be added to OTA's online toll calculator at Toll Calculator

It is the second new turnpike interchange to open since OTA completed its move to cashless tolling in 2024. In December, OTA opened a new SH-66 interchange on the I-44/Turner Turnpike to Kellyville. Cashless tolling, which simplifies toll payment options and provides non-stop travel on turnpikes, allows the Authority to add new interchanges to communities for the first time since the inception of Oklahoma's turnpikes in 1953. New interchanges are a major component of the ACCESS Oklahoma long-range plan to provide better emergency response times to crash scenes and the ability to move traffic easier when delayed by incidents.
