Repairs completed for 2 county bridge overpasses on the I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike; 3 bridges remain closed; expect lane closures through weekend

Eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike will be narrowed to one lane underneath the E. 530 Rd. overpass just north of SH-266 near Verdigris from 5 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge repairs after six bridges were hit by an illegally overheight truck earlier this week. The E. 530 Rd. overpass bridge will remain closed until repairs are completed. Repairs will include flame straightening and replacing sections of damaged beams.

Work completed Thursday night underneath county overpass bridges at N. 4310 Rd. and W. 370 Rd. northeast of SH-28 near Adair. Both of these bridges have remained open to local traffic.

Additional scheduled lane closures for bridge repairs include: 

  • Eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike will be narrowed to one lane underneath the S. 4220 Rd. overpass northeast of Claremore from 5 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. At this time, this bridge remains closed to local traffic.
  • Eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike will be narrowed to one lane underneath the N. 4300 Rd. overpass northeast of SH-28 from 5 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday. At this time, this bridge remains closed to local traffic. 

Work will continue into early next week to address the N. 429 Rd. overpass bridge.

OTA is working closely with officials from Rogers County, Mayes County, City of Claremore, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in response to this incident.
