I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike county bridge repairs near completion; N. 4300 Rd. bridge repairs continue today
Work continues today on N. 4300 Rd. county bridge overpass northeast of SH-28 with eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike narrowed to one lane at this location through mid-Monday afternoon. At this time, this bridge remains closed to local traffic but is expected to reopen Monday afternoon.
Other work scheduled today includes narrowing eastbound I-44/Will Rogers Turnpike to one lane at N. 429 Rd. overpass bridge just northeast of SH-28 at Adair from 5 p.m. Monday to 8 a.m. Tuesday for repairs. Work will include flame straightening a damaged bridge beam.
In total, six county overpass bridges between SH-266 near Verdigris and Vinita were damaged by strikes from an illegally over-height commercial motor vehicle Dec. 16. Initially, four bridges were closed to traffic until repairs could be made. An estimated $415,000 in emergency repairs began Thursday night and as work has progressed three bridges have been reopened to traffic with the final one expected to open this afternoon.
