Turnpike Authority Board Shortlists Private Firms for Gilcrease Construction
Oklahoma City (Sept. 25, 2018) — The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) at its monthly board meeting approved a short list of candidates from the private sector to help fund and build the Gilcrease Expressway Turnpike in Tulsa.
The shortlist of candidates include a combined group from AECOM Energy and Construction Inc./Duit Construction Company, Inc./Well Fargo Securities, also, Manhattan Sherwood Joint Venture (Manhattan Road & Bridge Company and Sherwood Construction Co., Inc.)/RBC, and the third group of Oklahoma Turnpike Constructors Joint Venture (Lane Construction Corporation and Allen Contracting, Inc.)/KeyBank.
The OTA will issue a Request for Proposal to each of the teams in early October while targeting the first quarter of 2019 to name the group that will help finance and build the Turnpike. The Authority is targeting June 1, 2019 for the start of construction.
The Gilcrease Expressway Turnpike connects L.L. Tisdale Parkway to I-44 near W. 51st St. in west Tulsa. The roadway completes the western loop around the Tulsa metro area. It will help relieve urban traffic congestion during peak periods. It will also provide a new and more direct route to city attractions and points of interest in the Tulsa urban core.
The project involves a funding partnership between the OTA, City of Tulsa, Tulsa County, Indian Nations Council of Governments, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, federal government and private investors.
