Turner Turnpike Heyburn Service Plaza to Close June 1

Friday, May 26, 2017

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 26, 2017) – The Heyburn Service Plaza on the Turner Turnpike near mile marker 207 westbound will close June 1, 2017 to make room for expansion of the Turner Turnpike.

As part of the Driving Forward program, introduced by Governor Mary Fallin in October of 2015, the Turner Turnpike will expand from four lanes to six lanes from Bristow to Tulsa. As part of the expansion, a new section of the interstate will occupy the space currently housing the service plaza and an OTA maintenance yard. The first construction project is scheduled to begin Aug. 8.

“The construction to add lanes on the Turner Turnpike comes at a time where traffic continues to increase tremendously from Bristow to the Tulsa area,” OTA Executive Director Tim Gatz said. “Motorists should remember services will remain open at the Stroud plaza for both westbound and eastbound traffic.”

Motorists will be able to stop for fuel and food at the Stroud Service Plaza, located near mile marker 178.
