OKLAHOMA CITY—Motorists who routinely travel using Pikepass through the Newcastle Toll Plaza on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike can expect delays due to construction beginning Monday, April 29, 2013.
Construction crews will have the southbound Pikepass lane narrowed beginning Monday as upgrades to the lane are made.
Speeds will be reduced from 75 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour through the Pikepass lane during construction. The speed limit will be strictly enforced by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Motorists should be alert to all traffic signs and warning signs around the toll plaza and follow those signs while entering the construction zone. It’s also encouraged all motorists should refrain from using cell phones while traveling through the toll plaza.
Crews will spend the next month adding upgrades to the Pikepass lanes to better accommodate our customers. After the southbound Pikepass lane is completed, construction crews will then begin work on the northbound Pikepass lane.
The Newcastle Toll Plaza is located at approximately mile marker 97.5 on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. All work is scheduled to be completed by June 4.
