Subject: Important Update: Due to Federal Government Shutdown, SNAP Benefits Will Be Suspended Beginning November 1, 2025
SNAP Recipients:
We want to make you aware of important information about your Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
Due to the federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) that federal funding for SNAP will be suspended beginning November 1, 2025.
What This Means For You
- Unless the federal government resolves the shutdown, no new SNAP benefits will be issued on November 1.
- You can continue using your current SNAP benefits and any remaining balance on your EBT card through October 31, 2025.
- It is unclear whether existing balances will remain available beginning November 1, 2025.
What You Can Do Now
- Continue using your benefits through October.
- Plan and budget carefully to ensure the best use of your existing SNAP benefits.
- Continue to submit all eligibility and recertification paperwork as usual.
- Stay informed — OKDHS will share updates as soon as new information is available from our federal partners.
OKDHS is actively communicating with federal officials, the Governor’s office, and other state leaders for information. We understand how stressful this uncertainty can be for families, and we remain committed to supporting you through this process.
