Digital Background Checks
Starting 09-01-2025, Private Adoption Background checks can be completed digitally. Please see the guide below on how to complete them digitally or through the hard card process. More detailed information is listed below the quick guide table. It is important to note that digital printing is more accurate and efficient.

Digital Instructions
Digital Fingerprinting Instructions:
1. Visit identogo.com to schedule a digital fingerprinting appointment. Follow the steps below when registering:
2. Select In-State or Out-of-State digital fingerprinting services based on whether the applicant resides in/out of Oklahoma:
a. Within OK Select ‘Register for In-State Digital Fingerprinting Services’ OR
b. Outside of OK Select ‘Register for Out-of-State Digital Fingerprinting Services’
3. Enter Service Code 2B7RB5 to be printed for Private Adoptive Parent
4. Enter a zip code to find nearby fingerprinting locations.
5. Choose a site and click to schedule a fingerprinting appointment.
6. Complete the form and submit.
7. *The individual must present a government issued photo ID at the fingerprinting appointment.
Digital Background Request:
1. Use the link below to submit a background request for a Private Adoption background check from a non-DHS network computer: https://bidspublic.okdhs.org/.
2. Choose the following drop-down boxes for Private Adoption Fingerprint Based requests:
3. Once the reason for the background check has been selected, the form will populate and mandatory fields are marked as (*). Ensure to pay close attention to spelling and correct order of names.
Digital Payment:
1. Payment of $53.25 will be paid when signing the applicant up on identogo.com
Hard Card Process
Hard Card Fingerprinting:
1. Go to a local Sheriff’s station to complete 2 (per person) fingerprint Hard Cards.
2. Mail both sets of cards to Office of Background Investigations at PO Box 268935, Oklahoma City, OK 73126.
3. Results will be mailed back to the applicant once payment, cards (2) and background request have been submitted.
Hard Card Background Request:
1. Complete request using Request for Background Check 04AD0033 (updated 02/05/25).
OR:
2. Submit the background request online using the link above under Digital Background Request.
Hard Card Payment:
1. Payment is $50 per person with check or money order written out to Oklahoma Human Services and sent payment to OBI at PO Box 268935, Oklahoma City, OK 73126.
