Re: New Federal Regulations - Enrollment Fee

Clarification received from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid

Dear Provider,

On July 27, 2012, you received Provider Letter DDSD 2012-01 explaining the new Federal Regulations requiring the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) to collect an enrollment or renewal screening fee from all providers.

We recently received notification that there has been a change in this requirement prompted by clarifications from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).  OHCA has advised us that there are no fees from any provider when a contract renewal occurs.  This includes both individual and business contracts.  New businesses that have not gone through this process with Medicare or with Medicaid in another state will still have to pay the fee and go through the inspection process.  Providers who have already submitted an enrollment fee with their contract renewal will be reimbursed by OHCA.

We hope this clears up some of the recent confusion concerning payment of the provider enrollment fee.  If you have any questions, please contact Gwen McClain at gwen.mcclain@okdhs.org.

Sincerely,

James M. Nicholson, Director

Developmental Disabilities Services Division
