To qualify for an appeal, the individual must be identified as a perpetrator in the investigation under appeal, and the confirmed finding(s) did not result in anyany juvenile deprived action.

Frequently Asked Questions
The appeal process is a file review only. Once an appeal has been accepted, the appellant may provide additional written information to the Appeals Unit for review. The Appeals Unit reviews the child welfare investigation, relevant information from the computerized child welfare KIDS system, and additional written information from the appellant.
The Appeals Unit determines whether the confirmed finding(s) under appeal are upheld, modified or reversed. The Appeals Section then updates the KIDS system, and notifies the appellant, and appropriate child welfare staff and the office of the District Attorney any changes made.
This decision is final and there is no further recourse to appeal.
