Subject:  2022 Assisted Living Rental Unit and Board Rates

Maximum Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment amounts increase with the cost-of-living increases that apply to Social Security benefits. The maximum Federal SSI Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) rates will change January 1, 2022, affecting ADvantage Members’ Assisted Living rental unit and board rates.   The monthly maximum Federal amounts for 2022 are $841 for an eligible individual and $1,261 for an eligible individual with an eligible spouse.  The resulting amounts are rounded down to the next lower multiple of $1.

If a Member is paying a lower rate than those listed below, they may continue to be charged at the existing rate until their next contract renewal period. Otherwise, the new ADvantage Member maximum rental unit and board rates are as follows:

One Occupant - Rental unit with one bedroom or studio, kitchenette, one bath

$378.00 = Board rate for single occupancy

$378.00 = Rental Unit rate for single occupancy

$756.00 = maximum total rental unit and board (90% of SSI Federal Benefit Rate)

Two Occupants - Rental unit with one bedroom, living area with kitchenette, one bath

Each ADvantage Member will be responsible for one full board rate for single occupancy ($378.00) and 60% of a full rental unit rate for single occupancy ($226.00).

$378.00 = Board rate for single occupancy

$226.00 = 60% of Rental Unit rate for single occupancy

$604.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for the ADvantage Member

 $1209.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for two ADvantage Members  haring a one bedroom unit

Two Occupants - Rental unit with two bedrooms, living area with kitchenette, one bath

Each ADvantage Member will be responsible for one full board rate for single occupancy ($378.00) and 80% of a full rental unit rate for single occupancy ($302.00).

$378.00 = Board rate for single occupancy

$302.00 = 80% of Rental Unit rate for single occupancy

$680.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for the ADvantage Member

$1360.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for two ADvantage Members  sharing a two bedroom unit

Two Occupants – Eligible Couple (an eligible individual with an eligible spouse) - Rental unit with one bedroom, living area with kitchenette, one bath

Each ADvantage Member will be responsible for one full board rate for single occupancy ($378.00) and 50% of a full rental unit rate for single occupancy ($189.00).

$378.00 = Board rate for single occupancy

$189.00 = 50% of Rental Unit rate for single occupancy

$567.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for the ADvantage Member

 $1134.00 = maximum total rental unit and board for the eligible couple (90% of SSI Federal Benefit Rate).
