Medicaid Services Update

To:  All ADvantage Case Managers and DME Providers

Subject: Medical Orders on Durable Medical Equipment and Supplies - Correction

Date:  March 4th, 2022

See corrected code underlined and in red

Due to changes in Medicaid claim requirements, a Medical Order is now required on ALL Durable Medical Equipment (DME) requested for authorization through the ADvantage Waiver.  This requirement takes effect immediately and any requests for DME currently in SPA Review will not be authorized until a Medical Order is submitted.

The exception to this requirement is equipment that requires installation by the DME provider, which is submitted under S5165-TF.  This equipment is limited in scope but includes:

Bathtub Wall Rail (grab bar)

Grab Bar (outside of bathroom area)

Transfer Tub Rail Handheld Shower
Toilet Rail/Safety Frame Bolted Toilet Riser

Any requests for these items will continue to require completion of the Request for Installed DME form and signature of the documented homeowner (please refer to Bulletin dated 2-3-21 for more information).

If you have any questions regarding the above change, please contact us via Harmony Provider Question.

Thank you for your diligence in getting these needed supplies to our ADvantage Members.
